Talent Manager Doudlas Quijano passes away

Isang nakakalungkot na balita ang bumulaga sa showbiz ngayong araw dahil sa pagkamatay ng kilala at nirerespetong talen manager na si Douglas Quijano. Natagpuan ang katawan ng talent manager early this morning sa kwarto ng kanyang bahay sa Lucban, Quezon ng dating editor ng Hi! at INTRIGUE Magazine na si Ces Evangelista at matagal ng driver na si Francis.

Si Ces ay isa sa mga matagal ng kaibigan ni Tito Dougs (tawag sa beteranong talent manager ng mga kaibigan niya sa showbiz). Every weekend ay binibisita ni Ces si Tito Dougs sa kanyang bahay sa Lucban kung saan pinili ng talent manager ang mag-settle na mula sa kanyang dating bahay sa Quezon City.

Lumuluwas lamang ng Maynila si Tito Dougs kapag may mga mahahalagang meeting at events. Katulad na lang nu’ng last Wednesday ay nakipag-meeting pa si Tito Dougs sa ABS-CBN executive na si Deo Endrinal.

Well-loved sa showbiz si Tito Dougs especially ng kanyang mga talents gaya ng mag-asawang Richard Gomez at Lucy Torres, Joey Marquez, John Estrada, Gelli de Belen, Jomari and Anjo Yllana, Wendell Ramos at Antonio Aquitana. Kasapi at isa rin sa mga founder ng PAMI (Philippine Artists Managers, Inc) si Tito Dougs.

Incidentally, may inorganize na healing mass ang PAMI on Tuesday, June 16 sa Father Estioko Hall sa Christ The King Mission Seminary, 101 E. Rodriguez Avenue, Quezon City . Ang kilalang healing priests na sina Father Joey Faller and Father Glenn Gomez ay naimbitahan ng PAMI to officiate at the ceremony.

Ngayon ang mga labi ni Tito Dougs ay nasa byahe na mula sa Lucban para i-burol sa The Heritage Park Chapel sa Taguig (C5) na kung saan ang public viewing sa kanyang mga labi ay magaganap simula bukas (June14) at least 6am.

Nakatakda sanang mag-celebrate ng kanyang ika-65 birthday next month si Tito Dougs.

‘Adik Sa ‘Yo’ Registers Lowest GMA Debut in 5 Years

Adik Sa ‘Yo trumped Atlantika and All About Eve for getting the lowest pilot episode of a GMA show since 2005.

The romantic comedy series starring Jolina Magdangal, Dennis Trillo, Jennica Garcia and Marvin Agustin garnered a very low pilot rating of 25.4% erasing the record low 25.5% pilot rating of Atlantika last Oct. 3, 2006.

Last March 9, 2009, the pilot episode of GMA’s adaptation of the koreanovela “All About Eve” placed 2nd to the all-time lowest with 26.1% rating in Mega Manila. Now the all-time lowest pilot episode of a GMA primetime series belongs to Adik Sa ‘Yo, the second lowest is now Atlantika while the 3rd lowest is All About Eve.

Nakikita man natin si Katrina Halili sa telebisyon araw-araw, marami pa rin sa mga fans at kaibigan ng dalaga ang nami-miss siyang makita na umaarte sa telebisyon.

starsPinatunayan ni Katrina noon kung gaano siya ka-versatile pagdating sa acting. Mapa-bida o kontrabida, tinangkilik ng mga manonood ang kanyang mga shows tulad ng Marimar, Magdusa Ka, Gagambino, Obra at marami pang iba. Ngunit ngayong kasagsagan ng issue about the sex video scandal, handa pa ba si Katrina na humarap ulit sa camera? Kailan nga ba siya babalik ulit sa pag-arte?

“Siguro by July, puwede na akong magtrabaho. Pero siguro hindi muna 'yung mga live guestings. Siguro mga soap [operas] lang muna [at] hindi pa masyado 'yung mga live na shows. Parang hindi pa ko ready,” ang pag-amin ng dalaga sa iGMA.

Ngunit nilinaw niya na pagdating sa mga sexy roles, “siguro less lang ng konti, unlike before, kasi parang fresh na fresh pa lang 'yung video ko tapos makikita nila akong pasexy-sexy 'di ba? Parang lie-low lang muna.”

Inamin din niya na meron siyang mga roles na gustong gawin at kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon gusto din niyang matuloy ang remake ng Lino Brocka movie na Angela Markado.

“'Yung gusto ko Angela Markado kasi rape victim sya tapos lumaban siya. Gusto ko 'yun,” kuwento ng aktres. Matatandaan na ito ay unang ginampanan ng premyadong aktres na si Ms. Hilda Coronel at Katrina was suppose to do a remake of this film sa television bago pa pumutok ang issue about the sex video.

Idinagdag din niya na gusto niyang bumalik sa mga kontrabida roles tulad ng Valentina (Darna) at Fedra (Rosalinda), ngunit wala pang definite offers ang dumarating sa kanya.

“Sobrang namiss ko ['yung pagiging kontrabida] kasi naapektuhan ako sa mga character na ginagampanan ko, eh. At least kapag villain ka, ikaw ang nagdadala ng eksena, nag-iisip ka, nag-i-improvise ka. Hindi katulad ng weakling ka lang, patamaran. Parang gusto ko 'yung may natutunan ka.”

Although aminado ang aktres na hindi pa siya makalabas ng bahay ngayon, nagpapasalamat naman siya sa mga suporta at prayers from her fans at friends.

“Sobrang thankful ako na may mga tao talaga na sumusuporta sa akin at naniniwala sa akin. Ipinaglalaban nila ako, in fairness, sobrang nakakatuwa sila. Tapos sobrang sad sila kapag nakikita nila akong umiiyak o nasasaktan. Nalulungkot sila kasi matagal akong nawala sa TV, February pa, so pinipilit ko namang bumalik para sa kanila. [Pagbalik ko] new Katrina na siguro. Malapit na po ako bumalik [kaya] sana maayos na lahat.”

Charice Conquers Billboard Hot 100

Our very own Charice invaded the Billboard Hot 100 this week after her single Note to God conquered iTunes and Amazon charts last week.



The Billboard music chart is the arena where superstars and pop stars around the world battle for the top spot.

The young diva’s “Note to God,” composed and written by the legendary Diane Warren and produced by her mentor David Foster, placed 44th on Hot 100 singles chart this week.

The Billboard Hot 100 is the weekly ranking of most popular singles in the United States based on radio play and sales gains.

Charice first performed her single on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last May 18 for the finale episode of Oprah’s worldwide search for the “Most Talented Kids.”

Right after the show, Charice’s single “Note to God” hit no. 9 on iTunes US music charts and climbed to no. 6 the next day. On iTunes Canada, Charice debuted at no. 2 behind the powerhouse group Black Eyed Peas, whose member Apl.de.Ap is also a Filipino.

Note to God also placed 2nd on the Amazon music chart. The Black Eyed Peas‘ Boom Boom Pow is the no. 1 single on iTunes US/Canada, Amazon and Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks now.

Charice is set to release her first international album later this year.
