TAROT’ GETS A PG 13 RATING

‘TAROT,’ the horror film from Regal Films gets a big boost from the MTRCB when it got a Parental Guidance rating --- which makes it suitable for viewing for kids provided that they are accompanied by adults.

‘TAROT’ stars Marian Rivera, Roxanne Guinoo and Dennis Trillo and directed by Jun Lana. It is a frightening and enlightening take on the use of the tarot cards and its consequences.

The lead star Marian says, “We are very grateful that we are given the chance to be seen by a wide audience given our PG 13 rating.” Dennis adds, “Very blessed indeed because there is no other local film opening on the same week and the movie hits the screen during a long payday weekend because of the National Heroes Day holiday.” The story of Tarot is unpredictable and will bring the audience to unexpected horror experience.

‘TAROT’ will be shown in more than 100 theaters nationwide on August 26. The movie is well made and excellently acted and produced horror film of the season which is the birthday treat of both the Regal matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde and the primetime queen Marian Rivera.

Kapamilya scrimps, Kapuso splurges

An ABS-CBN insider told STIR that the Kapamilya Network sent one media person to cover the Kadayawan Festival in Davao while GMA sent five entertainment journalists from Manila. More than anything, this shows how the Kapamilya Network is scrimping on publicity budget and how the Kapuso Network is splurging on it. No doubt who’s getting more publicity mileage, resulting in higher television ratings.

ABS-CBN has been cutting back in publicity expenses. It’s been holding less and smaller press conferences, relying on in-house publicity like in self-owned publications and online sites to do the job. Like in the In My Life launching, there were more Vilma Santos fans than there were entertainment journalists. This gave almost no time to interview the Star For All Seasons and packed up the Dolphy Theater where it was held.

The opposite is taking place at GMA. It’s giving bigger and more press conferences. It maximizes every publicity opportunity like introduction of new shows like the drama/fantasy series Mars Ravelo’s Darna & the sitcom Show Me the Manny and special events like the Are You The Next Big Star finals at the Araneta Coliseum.

Clearly, there has been a change of publicity and promotion strategy by the two giant networks which are opposite in size and intention. This usually happens when one network thinks it has attained market leadership and feels comfortable in the perceived standing. The other network tries harder to regain number one position by giving more frequent and bigger media conferences.

Tula Para kay JDL

HOY JDL!

Hoy JDL kaparis mo'y donkey

And I Love You So - Palabas na sa mga Sinehan!

John Lloyd Cruz, King of Endorsements?

In fact, nang huli naming makapanayam ang aktor, kagagaling lamang nito sa isang promotional event for the pizza chain Greenwich.

John Lloyd allots two days in a week for the upcoming film project In My Life where he pits talents with the legendary Vilma Santos. In My Life is a far cry from the feel-good movies (A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life) that Lloydy has been doing lately.

Cristine Reyes - Cosmopolitan Philippines August 2009

FHM’s Sexiest Woman, Cristine Reyes, is the August covergirl of Cosmopolitan Philippines.

Cristine Reyes inked a 1 year contract with ABS-CBN last week. Prior to her renewal with the kapamilya network, Cristine announced that she plans to return to GMA. It was during the time when she had a conflict with her Banana Split co-stars.

ABS-CBN offered her a weekly drama anthology called “The Cristine Reyes Drama Special”, a primetime soap with working title “Bedspacer” and a starring role in a month-long episode of Your Song Presents.

ABS-CBN management also requested Cristine to reconcile with her Banana Split co-stars. The sexy actress responded positively and promised to talk things out with RR Enriquez, Angelica Panganiban, etc.

Aside from winning FHM’s Sexiest Women Poll this year, Cristine Reyes is nominated for Best Actress in the 2009 Seoul International Drama Awards. Her ABS-CBN drama series “Eva Fonda” was also nominated for a special prize in the prestigious award-giving body.
