Ang TAPE, Inc. owned teledrama na "Valiente" na unang ipinalabas sa ABS-CBN noong 1992 hanggang 1995 na nalipat naman sa GMA7 noong 1995 at nagtapos noong 1997 ay muling bubuhayin ng TV5.

Ngayong second week daw ng October magsisimula ang taping nito kung hindi maaantala at si Direk Joel Lamangan ang magdidirek na ngayo'y nasa TV5 na from GMA7. Huling serye niya sa Kapuso Network ay ang "Pahiram ng Isang Ina" na hanggang ngayon ay umeere pa rin.

Five exemplary Pinoy families honored in first Jollibee Family Values Award

Five outstanding Filipino families from Quezon City, Bulacan, Lucena, Negros Occidental and General Santos City were recently conferred with the first ever Jollibee Family Values awards given by the country’s number one fast food chain.

Cited for their shared values and the contributions they have made to their respective communities, the five winning families were feted during the Gabi ng Parangal para sa Pamilyang Pilipino held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas.

The awards night culminated the two month-long nationwide search and was attended by Jollibee’s top executives led by Jollibee global president Ernesto Tanmantiong and Jollibee Philippines president Jose Miñana.

Over a thousand entries from all over the country were received by Jollibee which were further narrowed down to 25 worthy semifinalists. From the top 25, the panel of judges chose the top five winners – one from each of the major regions -- North Luzon, Mega Manila, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Adjudged as most outstanding families were: Mr. and Mrs. Ireneo and Flordeliza Depleo and family from Sta Maria Bulacan (North Luzon); Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel and Mila Mercado and family from Quezon City (Mega Manila); Mr. and Mrs. Edonis and Christine Francisco from Lucena City( South Luzon); Mr. and Mrs. Ernesto and Remedios Suplido and family from Silay City (Visayas); and Mr. and Mrs. Rey and Marjorie Cartojano from General Santos City (Mindanao).

Each of the five winning families was awarded with a cash prize of P100,000 (tax free), P10,000 worth of Jollibee gift certificates and a trophy especially designed by premiere brass sculptor Michael Cacnio.

“For over three decades now, Jollibee has been a witness to countless great family bonding moments. Through this search, we hope to continue inspiring families to nurture positive Filipino values and influence the community around them as well,” shares Jollibee’s vice president for marketing Albert Cuadrante.

Exemplary Pinoy Families in Focus

The Mercado family’s inspiring story is a testament to their resilience and love for one another in the face of tragedy. Despite the mother being inflicted with brain injuries after giving birth, the family maintains a positive outlook inspiring those around them. The whole family continues to share their story all around the country by giving talks, writing for publications and appearing in radio and TV programs.

The Depla family – notwithstanding their humble background - has remained passionate in reaching out to other people in their community. The mother, who is a midwife by profession, lends her services for free to expecting mothers who cannot afford to have their babies delivered in the hospital. Mrs. Depla’s genuine concern for others have greatly influenced all the members of the Depla household to also devote a great amount of their time helping others or actively participating in local community projects.

The Francisco family initiated a feeding program for poor children in public schools in their hometown. To this day, the whole family is engaged and deeply involved in their feeding project which has now expanded its coverage to 43 sites. During their school outreach, they take time and effort to also monitor the growth and progress of the children beneficiaries.

The Suplido family are all gifted speakers and they have set out to share their God-given talent to inspire others. The parents are active facilitators during Discovery Weekend and Marriage Encounter sessions that seek to give guidance to couples like them. They have also trained and inspired all their four kids to become motivational speakers, leading talks for the 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens workshops and Youth Aid’s Kids for Peace summer workshops.

The Cartojano family are all active members of the Red Cross movement that it has become one of their regular family bonding activities. They also inspire one another to be the best in their respective fields. , The Catojano kids are all achievers and recognized student leaders in their respective schools.

Praybeyt Benjamin is a "salute" to Vice Ganda

From being a stand-up comedian and playing supporting roles in movies and television shows, to becoming a breakout star via the ground breaking talent search "Showtime," comedian, host and performer Vice Ganda has become today's most popular gay icon.

Testaments to Vice's amazing success are a hit talk show - "Gandang Gabi Vice," product endorsements, sold-out concerts here and abroad, and a box-office motion picture.

Vice Ganda's star shines even more with the upcoming release of his newest film "Praybeyt Benjamin." Here, Vice plays the role of Benjamin Santos whose family has a long tradition of serving in the military. Direk Wenn says that Vice went all-out to secure the laughs in the movie, "Kahit anong ipagawa ko sa kanya, ginawa niya!" Direk Wenn says of Vice.

'Alta', hindi totoong shelved na!

Tuloy na tuloy pa rin daw ang 'Alta' ng ABS-CBN. Katunayan nga raw ay magsisimula nang gumiling ang camera ngayong unang linggo ng Oktubre.

Nagsasanay na rin ang dalawang leading men sa seryeng ito na sina Sam Milby at Zanjoe Marudo para sa isang military training. Another first ito sa dalawang ito dahil hindi pa sila nagkakaroon ng papel bilang isang sundalo.

Bagong genre na tinaguriang Mini-Serye, isa sa mga inobasyon ng TV5 sa Philippine television. Seryeng magsisimula at matatapos sa loob lamang ng isang buwan, mabilis ang mga pangyayari sa kuwento, higit na kaabang-abang.

Muling magkakasama ina Jake Cuenca at Shaina Magdayao sa isang teleserye na niluluto ngayon ng ABS-CBN. Una silang nagkasama sa 'Rubi' kung saan naman nagbida si Angelica Panganiban.

Wala namang nakikitang magiging problema si Jake sa pagsasama nila ni Shaina sa isang teleserye bilang loveteam. “Magkakilala naman na kami ni John Lloyd, tsaka napakaliit ng industriya. Siguro walang problema. Tsaka trabaho din naman ‘yan. I have all the respect to John Lloyd, in fact, I look up to him,” pahayag pa niya.

Sa kabila ng mga dumaraming issues at mga kontrobersiya na lumalabas sa hindi paglabas sa ASAP Rocks ng ABS-CBN ng Diamond Soul Siren na si Nina, mahinahon pa rin nitong sinagot ang mga isyung ibinabato sa kanya.

Una na rito ay ang balitang siya raw ay nagdadalang tao tapos ang isyung maglilipat daw siya ng channel at kung anu-ano pa na pinabulaanan naman ni Nina. Sa katunayan nga ay muli na siyang masisilayan sa ASAP Rocks ng ABS-CBN matapos ang kanyang matagumpay na series of concert shows abroad.

Sa ngayon ay busy naman si Nina sa kanyang susunod na album at muli na natin siyang makikita sa ASAP Rocks sa mga susunod na Linggo para magpromote ng pinakabago niyang album.

Napuno ng fans ni Thia ang Portofino Alabang Clubhouse pero kahit marami ang umattend, napanatili pa ring intimate ang gathering na 'yun dahil bawat isa ay nagkaroon ng chance makapagpa-autograph at makapagpapicture isa-isa kay Thia.

Isa sa mga bagay na ikinatuwa ng lahat ay isa pagiging matulungin sa lahat! First time ko lamang nalaman kanina na meron pala siyang The True Hearts In Action Foundation (T.H.I.A. Skechers Streetdance Battle 7 is Officially On - Three Crews Secure Spot in Finals

The ultimate battle is on. The Skechers Streetdance Battle is back for its 7th year with more high school and college dance crews, from all over the Philippines, risking it all for a shot at streetdance supremacy.

The first Skechers Streetdance Battle molded the Philippines’ streetdance scene. Seven years later, the Skechers Streetdance Battle—the biggest, toughest and hottest streetdance battle—just kept getting better.
Hours before the Skechers Streetdance Battle 7 kick-off party started, streetdance enthusiasts and participants were already milling around the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. Even the pouring rain was unable to suppress the intensity of the start of this year’s Streetdance Battle. Three spots for the Final Battle were ready for the taking.

Fans, schoolmates and friends of participating schools’ showed their support by posing at their respective school banners. Unity, school spirit, and the chance to win big bucks are all thrown into the mix as Skechers is offering Php10,000 to the school with the best mob photo.

DJ Flave, Prince Paltu-Ob, and Emcee Noah officiated the first ever Skechers One-on-One Battle Pit--a head-to-head tournament-style dance off for aspiring streetdancers. The winner bagged some serious bragging rights along with a limited edition Skechers Streetdance Battle 7 shirt and P2,000 pesos after besting around 50 combatants.

After a little break (and some safety precautions to ensure that the equipment are nice and dry), everyone in the crowd got to learn the Skechers Streetdance Signature Wave Dance under the tutelage of Prince. It was definitely not your run-off-the-mill mass demonstration. This time around the entire crowd did more than just watch the moves, they got to bring out their dance flair and rock the house down. Excitement was at an all-time high after learning the Skechers Signature Wave Dance and the crowd was just settling on their seats when the Philippine All Stars took the stage. They opened the first elimination leg with an electrifying number that raised the bar and set a good pace for the rest of the program.

This year’s hosting duties rested on the shoulders of Skechers Streetdance Battle veteran Sam YG accompanied by first-timer DJ Show Suzuki. Together, the two announced the 89 crews battling for dance supremacy this year, with each crew name getting much-deserved applause and cheer.

Sam and Show also attempted to get Mr. Eugene Saw, Vice President of SM Department Store’s Footwear Department, to show off some of his moves on stage. Mr. Saw opted for his official announcement of this year’s promo where fans get a chance to buy Skechers Streetdance Battle Year 7 Final Battle tickets ahead of everyone else. And then the battle was on. 

Twelve of the best dance crews in the country showed the crowd their dance prowess with some heart-stopping moves. Of the twelve, three rose to the spotlight and grabbed the first slots for the Final Battle and a chance for ultimate dance supremacy. There was a mixture of anxiety, excitement and large doses of cheering and screaming before the leg’s finalists were announced. The tension was enough that even the rain held its peace. Deafening cheers erupted when the three spots for the Final Battle were awarded to OC Performing Arts of Olivarez College, Wyre Underground of UPLB of UP Los Banos, and Indayog Dance Varsity of UP Manila.

This year, Skechers continues to aim the spotlight not only on the dance routines and death-defying stunts but also to the Streetdancers’ unique fashion statement. Every participating crew sent two representatives on stage to strut their wares in what can only be called a fusion of dancing and modeling. The audience was given a visual treat minus the breathtaking moves as the fashionistas danced the ramp in their hottest streetwear and the latest Skechers footwear. Streetstylers Mikhael Paulo Montemayor of Trace College Los Baños and Asnair Llegdo of Our Lady of Fatima Quezon City are going to the Final Battle to dance the ramps and an opportunity to be featured in Skechers-initiated media efforts, including a feature in Meg Magazine.

Like the battles of years back, this year continues the tradition of the Skechers Freestyle Showdown. Two representatives from each crew took the stage again for some head-to-head dance off action. Emotions and attitudes ran high as they flaunted their groove in freestyle and risked life and limb with their acrobatic maneuvers. Wyre Underground of UPLB got themselves some extra bragging rights as their representatives reigned supreme in the Freestyle Showdown.

Throughout the competition, renowned dancers and choreographers will be responsible in choosing this year’s ultimate battle champions for the high school and college categories. Members of the esteemed panel of judges are the following: Prince who not only taught the Skechers Signature Wave Dance to the Kick-off crowd but is also a former member of the Philippine All-Stars, owner/director of Brewing Point Dance Studio and winner of the 1-on-1 Popping Category of the 2011 Illest Cypher in Singapore; Jon Supan, dance choreographer and founding member of the Maneouvers; Kenjohns Serrano a founding member and former co-choreographer of the Philippine All-Stars, recently he has formed a new dance crew called the Rockstars and is working on a hiphop album; Leal Marie Diaz, Artisitic Director and founding member of the Philippine All-Stars; and popular TV Personality Jhong Hilario, best known in dance for his stint as a member of the Streetboys and for training in gymnastics for his signature jumps and stunts. Hailed as dance icons by the participants and the crowd, Jhong represented for the judges on stage with a little “sample” for everyone’s entertainment. Lucky spectators even got to go home some Jhong memorabilia.

Catch the next elimination legs at SM Megamall on September 24 and 25 and at SM North EDSA on October 2, 8 and 9. History will be made again at the Araneta Coliseum on November 12 for the Final Battle.

Mula sa direksyon ni Ruel S. Bayani, ang kwento ng "No Other Woman" ay tumatalakay sa kalaliman ng pag-ibig, kapusukan, panlilinlang at obsesyon. Ipinagmamalaki din ng pelikula ang pagsasama-sama ng mga pinakamaiinit na aktor ngayon, sina Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsey at Cristine Reyes sa pinaka-mapanghamon nilang pagganap!

Si Anne Curtis ay si Kara Zalderiaga, Isang bata, maganda at mayamang babae na kayang kunin at kukunin anuman ang kaya niyang naisin. Kahit marami nang nakarelasyon, si Kara ay 'di pa nakararanas ng totoong pag-ibig. Para sa kanya, ang buhay ay isang laro at ang "pag-ibig", walang saysay. Ngunit sa kanyang puso, si Kara ay patuloy na naghahanap ng 'di lamang magnanasa sa kanya kundi ng isang tunay na pagmamahal.

Si Derek Ramsey ay si Ram Escaler, isang magiliw at determinadong asawa na ang tanging ambisyon ay makapagbigay ng isang masaganang buhay sa kanyang pamilya at patunayan sa buong mundo ang kanyang sarili. Para kay ram, ang kanyang pagpupursigi ang magpapalaya sa kanya at sa kanyang pamilya sa anino ng kanyang lalaking biyenan at ng kanyang amang umiwan sa kanila.

Si Cristine Reyes ay si Charmaine Escaler, ang magandang "perpektong" asawa, masinop at mayumi. Mahalaga sa kanya ang kung anong sasabihin ng iba at isasapuso niya ang kanyang papel bilang asawa. Para kay Charmaine, hindi niya hahayaan ang anuman at sino man na sumira sa "perpektong" mundo na binuo niya para sa kanyang pamilya.

Paanong mababago ang buhay nilang tatlo? Paanong ang walang pakialam na kerida ay magiging makapit sa tanging lalaking naniwala at tumanggap sa kanya? At paano niya maaatim na sirain ang pangalan ng kanyang sariling pamilya ng lalaking tanging minahal niya? Paanong ang isang butihing asawa ay madadala sa kapusukan at magagawa ang pinakamalaking kasalanan sa buong buhay niya? Paano ipaglalaban ng isang "perpektong" asawa ang kanyang pamilya na hindi siya magiging isang taong hindi na niya kilala? Sa gitna ng tensyon, eskandalo, komprontasyon at kanilang mga emosyon, matututunan nilang tatlo ang isang leksyon na babago sa kanilang lahat habangbuhay.

Para kay Anne, ang pagganap bilang isang kerida ay walang dudang isang matapang na hakbang. Nasanay na tayong lahat na makita siyang gumanap sa mga papel na "wholesome". Ang makita siya bilang isang Kara ay tunay ngang dapat na abangan! Para naman kay Derek, ang maging tanging bidang lalaki ay isang "first". Kung sa kanyang mga nakaraang pagganap ay parati siyang third "party", ngayon ay siya na ang nasa gitna ng atensyon, ang lalaking pinag-aagawan! Sa wakas, patutunayan ni Derek na kaya niya at siya nga ang ultimate "leading man"! At para naman kay cristine, maaaring sabihin na walang bago kung siya ang gumanap bilang isang kerida dahil sa kanyang "sexy image". Ngunit sa "No Other Woman", isang bagong Cristine ang makikita natin bilang ang asawang nilinlang at ipakikita niya sa lahat na siya at siya lang ang "perfect" para sa papel na ito at walang iba!

Pag-ibig, kapusukan, panlilinlang at obsesyon. 'Yan ang "No Other Woman" na tiyak na magpapaliyab sa ating lahat sa pagpapalabas nito sa higit na isandaang sinehan sa buong bansa sa September 28, 2011!

The country's biggest reality TV show 'The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition' comes to an exciting finish when the Fan Five and other eliminated contestants come together for a final weigh-in that will determine who among Angela, Art, Hazel, Larry and Raffy will lose the highest  weight percentage since the start of the show and be declared the very first Pinoy Biggest Loser at the Grand Finale this October 8 (Saturday) at the Ynares Stadium in Pasig.

Armed with knowledge gained during their four-month stay in the Biggest Loser camp, the Bigating Pinoys continue their journey in the real world and undergo rigorous weight los regimen without the help of trainers Chinggay Andrada and Jim Saret.

Through the weeks, viewers have seen how the reality show has transformed the contestants physically, mentally and emotionally. Some have visibly lost weight, while others have gained more confidence. As they work towards the finals, the remaining Fab Five have their own strategies to win.

While sweethearts Hazel and Raffy try hard to work out twice a day, Art and Angela make sure they ,get enough sleep and have a balanced diet.

"All these years, I have carried so much burden, pain, humiliation, anger and sadness. So every lost pound was like an excess baggage thrown away and a symbolism of a new me," bar owner Art said.

By zooming in on the lives of overweight people and the negative impact of obesity on health, the program and its contestants have taught viewers how to adopt a healthy lifestyle and that losing weight can be achieved by exercising and eating the right food.

Hazel even considers joining the competition her second life, saying that it "unraveled the Hazel that has long been suppressed." Though she admits that the whole world does not only revolve around losing weight, the Bigating Pinoys have proven that any obstacle can be overcome as long as one has the will and determination to reach his or her goal.

"There are times you gain weight instead of losing weight. You should exert more effort. Though there are times you fail, you should carry on and not give up," she said.

The two other contestants affirmed how the show has transformed their lives. Sporting a new and a healthier physique, Larry plans to return to the police force. On the other hand, Raffy has changed his outlook in life. He used to make excuses that stood between him and his weight goal but he now realizes that change must start for oneself.

"You don't need to be a contestant in 'Biggest Loser' to lose weight. You only need yourself," he said.

While the transformation of the Fab Five is evident, only one of them will be declared the first Pinoy Biggest Loser and take home Php1 million, a newly furnished condominium unit from DMCI homes, a Vespa scooter, a 40" Sony Bravia Internet TV, Whirlpool appliances and a lifetime Fitness First membership.

The second placer will get Php 500,000, a Vespa scooter, Whirlpool appliances and 1 year Fitness First membership. On the other hand, the third placer will take home Php 300,000, a Vespa scooter, Fujidenzo Home Appliances, and 1 year Fitness First membership.

Not to be outdone are eliminated contestants Allan, Andy, Eboy, Edden, Eric, JM, Joy, Leigh, Ryan, and Winwin who will also battle for the grand finale weigh-in. The one who will lose the highest percentage of their initial weight will be proclaimed the At-Home Winner and will get Php 200, 000 and 1 year Fitness First membership.
