ABS-CBN will once again prove its supremacy in producing the country’s best comedy programs, as it presents the latest addition to its distinct and unbeatable Kapamilya Comedy.

The premiere of “TODA MAX,” starring Philippines’ hailed “Idol” Robin Padilla, Prince of Comedy Vhong Navarro and Pokwang, marks the much-awaited comeback of classic sitcom which Kapamilya Comedy pioneered.

Robin, the leading man of Kapamilya network’s hit primetime series “Guns and Roses,” expressed his enthusiasm to work with his friend Vhong. In fact, Robin admitted that he specifically requested for Vhong to be casted in the show. “I had my talent fee decreased just to be with him!,” he jokingly said.

Vhong is also excited, as he will once again be reunited with Robin. After their last television tandem in a sitcom in the ‘90s, which paved way to the success of Vhong’s career in the showbiz industry as Robin’s sidekick, the two Kapamilya stars will be working together again in an exciting and refreshing comedy show that will showcase action and light drama simultaneously.

“It’s been a long time, and we really miss working with each other. Also, doing a sitcom somehow reinvents me. I’m now so used to soap operas and variety shows. It’s refreshing to be back in a sitcom. Kapamilya comedy will make a grand comeback via this show,” Vhong shared.

Together with “Happy Yipee Yehey!” host, Pokwang, “TODA MAX” will be crazy, packed with funny antics yet values-enriched.

“TODA MAX” trails the story of a hillbilly named Tol (Robin) whose journey begins when his wife died and decided to take on a new path in Manila. Together with his two children Sandy and Ron-Ron, Tol finds himself living with his cousin Justin Bibbo (Vhong). Justin is an aspiring chef who dreams to become well-known, despite his poverty-ridden life as a carinderia owner.

Regardless of their opposite characters—Tol being firm, serious and brave and Justin is funny, playful and organized—they both did not let challenges interfere and struggle to help each other in raising Sandy and Ron-ron in an unconventional family setting.

Pokwang’s role as Lady G, a poor girl turned-millionaire, on the other hand, will challenge Justin’s life but will soon change, as she meets Tol and became attracted to him.

“TODA MAX” is a light and funny family oriented show that will surely make the viewers laugh their hearts out. Follow the story of Tol and Justin and how they will handle the different trials in life.

“Our exciting laugh trip is all set. So, I’m inviting everyone to catch the comeback of family-oriented sitcom on TV. You’ll really learn a lot from it,” Robin said.

Also starring in the sitcom are Izzy Canillo, Aaliyah Benisano, Jobert Austria, and Darwin Tolentino. “TODA MAX” is under the business unit of Raymund Dizon, together with production manager Cynthia Jordan, creative manager Rhandy Reyes and executive producer Rocky Ubana.

Catch “TODA MAX” beginning November 5, Saturday, before “Maalaala Mo Kaya” on ABS-CBN.

Placing second next to “100 Days to Heaven," "Budoy" wins National, Mega Manila and Metro Manila TV ratings

ABS-CBN’s biggest family drama series “Budoy” instantly made a strong impact among audience as it debuted on second place on Kantar Media’s list of most watched programs from October 17-19.

“Budoy”s average individual rating of 17.3% nationwide beat GMA’s highest rating and highly touted primetime show “Amaya” which only registered 11.1%. The series topbilled by drama prince Gerald Anderson also bested its competition in Metro Manila (15.1% vs 11.6%) and Mega Manila (13.9% vs 13.2%).

“At first, we were worried about the viewers’ response to our show since this is the first time that a drama series actually deals with mild mental retardation. That’s why we were so happy to know that we placed second this early in the ratings,” said Jessy Mendiola, Gerald’s love interest in “Budoy.”

She further shared that aside from its fast paced story and interesting set of characters, Gerald’s charm as ‘Budoy’ could have largely contributed to the show’s success. ”I think viewers are hooked with the program because of Gerald’s unique charm in playing his character.”

Kapamilya viewers will surely get charmed even more with the character of Budoy as the story progresses with more breathtaking revelations from its powerhouse cast composed of promising young stars Gerald, Jessy, and Enrique Gil; legendary luminaries of Philippine movie industry including Dante Rivero, Gloria Sevilla and Barbara Perez; and seasoned actors namely Tirso Cruz III, Zsa-Zsa Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Christian Vazquez, and Janice de Belen who makes a comeback in the Kapamilya network.

Henry examines proposed Charter change; "Krusada" checks if its time for the Philippines to dance the "Cha-Cha"

Calls to amend the Philippine Constitution’s economic provisions have been revived yet again.

Legislators who support Charter change insist that more jobs will be generated when foreigners are allowed to invest in the country, thus facilitating economic growth. However, opponents argue that it will only deter Filipinos from owning their own piece of land.

This Thursday (October 27) in “Krusada,” Henry Omaga-Diaz will probe the proposed constitutional reforms and how they will benefit or burden the common Filipino.

Is it the solution to the country’s major problems, or is it a purely political move?

Because it takes more than words to make a stand, listen, take part and be one with Henry’s crusade this Thursday (October 27) in “Krusada,” after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN, or catch it earlier at 9:15 PM on DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable channel 26).

”We are very happy. We just proved that talent doesn’t come with age,” said Andrew Sanchez.

The Maasinhon Trio, who also the oldest grand winner for PGT, garnered 22.59% of the total text and online votes followed by newest singing teen heartthrob Khalil Ramos with 18.64% and the acoustic singers Bringas Brothers with 14.03%. As runners up, Khalil and the Bringas Brothers received P100,000 each.

Hailing from the humble town of Maasin City in Southern Leyte, Andrew together with fellow members Bonifacio Salubre and Licinio Lolo didn’t only win the grand prize of P2 million but they also made history as the first act from the Visayas to win the competition following season one’s Jovit Baldivino and season two’s Marcelito Pomoy who both came from Luzon.

As early as audition week, the Maasinhon Trio already captivated the judges with their flawless blending and harmony when they sang their rendition of famous song “Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika.” The trio blew everyone away come semi finals when they sang the song “Bituing Walang Ningning.” Queen of All Media Kris Aquino even quipped “you are perfection” after their semis performance.

In a statement, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Head Bong Osorio said, “The winners of "Pilipinas Got Talent" are determined by the number of text and online votes that they receive during the grand finals. All 12 grand finalists are talented and deserving to win, but in the end, it was the Maasinhon Trio, who got the most votes from the viewing public followed by Khalil Ramos and the Bringas Brothers. ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ is a celebration of the many talents of Filipinos. The voting public has spoken and let us respect the decision of the viewers. We congratulate the winners and the other grand finalists.”

Their performance was good enough that Paula and celebrity mentor Pharelle Williams sent them through the next round.

Other group acts that made it to the top 17 were The Brewer Boys, Lakoda Rayne, and The Stereo Hogzz.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger and celebrity mentor Enrique Iglesias, on the other hand, sent through Leroy Bell, Stacy Francis, Dexter Haygood, and Josh Krajcik for the over 30s category.
